Professor Tony Monk was Head of Architecture at the University of Luton from 1994 to 1997 and Professor of Architecture there from 1995 to 2001.

1993 Head of Architecture, University of Luton 1994 Professor of Architecture, University of Luton. In 1993 he was primarily responsible for writing and validating a new architectural degree programme B.Sc (Hons) Architecture and then for securing RIBA Part 1 Recognition in principle for the course. This was the first time since the war that such exemption had been accorded to a new university programme by the RIBA. The philosophy of the degree was based on " The pursuit of architectural excellence through quality design based on modern technology and efficient management."
Professor Tony Monk's Inaugural Address was given to the Faculty of Design and Technology at the University of Luton on Thursday 9th March 1995 and was Titled, " Architectural Education in the 21st Century." A synopsis of that Lecture can be obtained by clicking on the link below:
